The
fundamentals of the National Labor Relations Act are discussed as well as
National Labor Relations Board procedures. This is viewed from the standpoint
of a company that does not presently have a union and does not want one.
Basic information is given to supervisors on how to react to union organizing
(such as by not looking at any authorization cards that might be presented
to them). It discusses how to avoid unfair labor practices that can cause
elections to be set aside if the company wins. The chapter also discusses
and explains the "right to work laws" in effect in many states
-- laws that almost always are universally misunderstood. The chapter emphasizes
and explains the importance of management training for companies wishing
to remain union free.
